Persecution May Come – But Don’t Give Up and Don’t Give In

“From the Heart” teaching by Drs. Rodney & Adonica Howard-Browne.

But you know all about me. You know what I teach and the way I live. You know my goal in life. You know my faith, my patience, and my love. You know that I never stop trying. 11 You know about my persecutions and my sufferings. You know all the things that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra –the persecution I suffered in those places. But the Lord saved me from all of it. 12 Everyone who wants to live showing true devotion to God in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.  2 Timothy 3:10-12 ERV

Everyone who wants to live showing true devotion to God in Christ Jesus will be persecuted and go through hard times, but never forget that God is on your side! If you are a lukewarm, compromising Christian, the devil isn’t worried about you, but if you are a Book of Acts Christian – hot, on-fire, living a godly life, submitted to the Word and the Holy Spirit, a doer of the Word, preaching the Gospel, and obeying the Great Commission – then he will be very afraid of you. The devil will always come to try to hinder and to stop the doers of the Word – those who are obeying God – with persecution. You might as well make up your mind now to not get upset or discouraged when it happens. In fact, you should rejoice for it is a sign that you are doing the will of God!

Persecution and hardship is intended to limit your influence. Persecution can come in the form of verbal disapproval or attacks, physical attacks from people or circumstances, and/or spiritual resistance from devils and demons. The devil will try to get you to be discouraged and quit. If you are a touchy person and you take everything personally, then you won’t be able to endure to the end. Paul was just such a one who was bold for the Gospel’s sake and went through tremendous persecutions and hardships as he boldly preached and demonstrated the Word of God. Ungodly people stirred up strife against him; fellow Jews attacked him; other “Christians” questioned his integrity and lied about him; he was arrested and thrown in jail and eventually martyred for his faith – and yet he never gave up; he never quit. Persecution will never succeed if you will just never quit!

Remember Jesus Christ. He is from the family of David. After Jesus died, he was raised from death. This is the Good News that I tell people. 9 And because I tell that message, I am suffering. I am even bound with chains like someone who has really done wrong. But God’s message is not bound. 10 So I patiently accept all these troubles. I do this to help the people God has chosen so that they can have the salvation that is in Christ Jesus. With this salvation comes glory that never ends. 11 Here is a true statement: If we died with him, we will also live with him. 12 If we remain faithful even in suffering, we will also rule with him. If we refuse to say we know him, he will refuse to say he knows us. 13 If we are not faithful, he will still be faithful, because he cannot be false to himself.  2 Timothy 2:8-13 ERV

Paul was persecuted for the Gospel’s sake, not because he had done wrong. He was bound by chains, but God’s Word was not bound – he continued to preach, write letters full of God’s Word and minister to everyone he met and the Lord continued to use him. How did Paul endure all this suffering? What Jesus did for him – and all men – was so real to him; eternity was so real to him; the promise of God was so real to him; that he was willing rather to suffer anything than deny the Lord Jesus Christ!

He was standing on the promise of God that:

1.  If we be dead with Him, we shall live with Him.

– Romans 6:8 KJV – Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.

– 2 Corinthians 5:15 KJV – And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

2.  If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him.

– Romans 8:17-18 KJV – And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

3.  If we deny Him, He also will deny us.

– Mark 8:38 KJV – Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

4.   If we won’t believe, He remains faithful: He cannot deny Himself.

–  Jesus is faithful. He will still be with us even when we have endured so much that it seems we have no faith left to stand. We may even give up and be faithless at times, but Jesus is still faithful to His promise to be with us “to the very end of the world/age” (Matthew 28:20). If we deny the Lord or walk away and break fellowship with Him, still He will never turn His back on us, but be ready to receive us back, should we come to our senses and turn back to Him.

And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. 42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
Acts 5:40-42 KJV

Persecution did not stop the Early Church from serving God and preaching the Gospel. They counted it an honor to receive persecution for His Name sake!

What Is Celebrate America?

Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne, with Revival Ministries International, are looking forward to Celebrate America just as they did in the summer of 1999 when, for six weeks consecutively, they rented Madison Square Garden, the world’s most famous arena, for Good News New York!

Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne are inviting local churches, the community, and members of government, in which many of them will be sharing their faith, and all nationalities to be a part of Celebrate America. We are celebrating America as she turns 239 years old. During Celebrate America, we will commemorate the Declaration of Independence and what the Constitution of the United States has meant to this land. We will celebrate the heritage of America and our Founding Fathers who acknowledged “firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.” We will remember The Great Spiritual Awakenings of this land, the impact of which they made, and The Great Awakening that is soon to come. Celebrate America.

Dear Friends,

Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne invite you to join them for Celebrate America this July in Washington D.C. at the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Constitution Hall. Just as we looked forward to Good News New York in the summer of 1999 at Madison Square Garden, we are looking forward to this event.

Local churches, the community, members of government (many of whom will be sharing their faith), all Americans, and anyone, from any nation, who loves America, are invited to be a part of Celebrate America. We are celebrating America as she turns 238 years old. During these 14 days of Celebrate America, we will commemorate the United States Declaration of Independence and what the Constitution of the United States has meant to this land. We will celebrate the heritage of America and our Founding Fathers who acknowledged “firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.” We will remember the Great Spiritual Awakenings of this land, the impact they made, and The Great Awakening that is soon to come.

Pastors, leaders, church groups, youth groups, and all believers, all around America, we ask you to begin praying for America, her leaders, and for Celebrate America. And we also encourage you to make plans to join us and to be a part of this very timely event.

The evening meetings are at 7 PM; admission is free. In the mornings, Power Evangelism will take place at 10 AM. Call, email, Facebook, and Tweet your friends and family to attend and to get involved; volunteers are needed. Sign up today.

Since coming to RBI, there have been many challenges that I have had to face.  Moving far from home to a new area with no support system that I once had, was hard in itself. I have learned that there is a completely different culture here that I have to adapt to, new people and different viewpoints. But this is a critical time in my life; God has sent me out on my own to take that next step in my Faith, so the challenges are only going to grow me into a better leader. The pastors here have taught me so much in just a short time, and I am blown away by all I’m learning. I have had a hard time here, but I had an awesome encounter one Wednesday night at Student Ministries when Pastor Allen prophesied over my life. It was confirmation that I am called to be a youth pastor and this is my new season to grow and let go of some things I’ve been clinging on to. It’s so awesome to see what God has been doing in such a short time with me at RBI, I can’t wait to see the change in me at the end of this year….Adrian R.

The word of God will change your life. Listen to the word of God about sowing and reaping. It teaches us where to sow and where not to sow, there are different grounds to put seed in. Every ground is not good ground. When you learn to put your seed in good ground you can get thirty, sixty, one hundredfold blessing back. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 13 how to sow, and where to sow.  I know since I have learned this principal of sowing and reaping, I have been blessed. I have seen many miracles in seed time and harvest. One testimony is I have sowed fifty dollars and reaped over five hundred dollars. When you sow normal seed you have to water your seed. So when I sowed the cash I wrapped faith around it. My water was the scriptures. Every seed produces after its own kind. When you learn about seed time and harvest, you learn even your words are seeds. Seed will take you all around the world. We should live off of our seed. Whatever out of your mouth you say is where you will be. Also, when you sow negative stuff, you will reap negative stuff. Seed time and harvest has no limits, it has no boundaries. When I learned about the parable of sowing and reaping, it changed my life. I live off of the seed, every time I sow seed God always brings a harvest.

It’s been a huge blessing since I’ve come back for my second here at the river bible institute. Last year was a huge blessing doing the river school of worship. It was great being able to experience and learn everything about worship and music. So last year was absolutely a great blessing and throughout last I led 170 souls to Christ so it was a great time. And it’s great to be back, Tampa is a great place. Once I got off the plane after I landed I was really excited, thinking about everything that God was going to do this year. And this year I’ve been experiencing Jesus in awesome ways.

Been really plugging in and seeking all that God has for me. And I’ve got a really great feeling that this is going to be my year. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I got a great feeling that I’m going to be doing all kinds of stuff for God. I know he has called my name, and I’ve been seeking his will since I was 15 and I’m 22 now. And I know Gods going to send me around the world doing all kinds of ministry things. Lately God has been revealing himself to me in amazing ways. And I really feel deep in my spirit that God is calling me to do music ministry.

Music is the gift that God has given me, and I knew by the time I was 15 what I felt God wanted me to start doing. And I started singing and than started playing not long after that. And I’m really passionate about the gifts he has given me. And he has really given me the ability to play and sing rock music. And I really enjoy using it for his glory and lift up his name. And I also feel that he wants me to preach as well. So I’m so excited and thrilled for what God is still having me do, and everything else he is going to have me do. And I’m really looking forward to traveling the world preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. God bless…..

ince the start of school and the river school revival at R.B.I. the Lord has made some major changes in me. I have made a decision to press into the things of God like never before. It actually started in my second year at R.B.I. I had made a decision then to do whatever the Lord told me to and the result was awesome blessings from the Lord. As I have made myself available to him, he has made himself more available to me also. He is growing my faith and showing me who I am to be in Him, a strong prayer warrior in the call center for this year is just the start of his ministry for my wife and I.

I am becoming more and more patient and more humble before the Lord. I am also finding myself becoming more hungry and thirsty for the things of God. This is my third year in R.B.I. and God is showing me how to take everything that comes my way, the good the bad and the ugly and to use these things to my advantage, to learn from these circumstances to flow in the Holy Ghost and take it all in stride not in strife. I never thought I would have come back to R.B.I. after my first year back in 05-06 but the Lord has a way of making us see things his way.

(Thank you Jesus!) the best decision of my life so far was coming back to R.B.I. for my second and now third year. This is just the start of the school year and I am so exited to see what God is doing in not only my life but so many new students that have stepped into the call that God has placed on their lives it is going to be a Great year at the River Bible Institute. Thank you Pastor Rodney and Adonica and all the Pastoral staff at the River, you are a Great blessing to everyone you Minister to…..
